Joe Venn's Product Review - Callaway Rogue Driver (standard option) I have been playing the Callaway Rogue Driver over the past couple of months. I have this in the standard head option, with 10.5 degrees of loft, Project X Even flow shaft in X-Flex, and standard weight settings. My first impression of this club was how classy it looks at address. The footprint of this driver has changed from that of last year’s Epic driver, seeing the Rogue with a more stretched out, and forgiving looking head shape and design. The next thing that I noticed was how classy the carbon finish on the crown of the clubbed looks, complimented by the blue graphics they have used this year, toned down from the bold green as used on the Epic. As we all know a club can look fantastic, but that doesn’t mean it will perform for us. However, I can safely say that this driver delivers! The feel I got from this club is great. At impact it feels very solid, and when you put a good swing on it you definitely get rewarded for finding the centre of the club. I personally got fitted for this club, which i recommend everyone to do, and found an extra 8 yards on my previous Callaway XR Driver. The 8 yards increase saw me carrying the ball at around 282 yards, although this was not why I really like this club. The forgiveness is fantastic. The Jailbreak technology provides health ball speeds off the club face and if I did catch this out of the toe or heel I found that I was not punished much at all. The only thing I didn’t like too much was that it can sometimes feel dead on the miss hits, however that was my only issue overall with this product.
This driver comes in three options: Standard, Sub zero (lower spinning option, suitable for fast clubbed speeds), and draw biased (to help people who may suffer from a slice or cutting the ball too much). This driver retails at £429.00, (Tehidy Pro Shop Price £399), however in my opinion it is worth every penny. I recommend that you get fitted for this club as it is the best way to make sure you are getting the best performance from your purchase, and if you’re spending the money you want to make sure you get the full benefit.
