Hello golfers,

 

Tehidy juniors, Josh Chapman & Matthew Lamb gained their first county experience playing for the Cornwall U14 team v Wiltshire at Borringdon Park near Plymouth on Sunday.

In the mornings foursomes Josh and Matt won their match 3/2 before playing in the afternoon singles. Matt played well in the afternoon singles but the long driving Wiltshire player capitalised on his distance off the tee to take the match 4/3. Josh had a real ding dong battle which went down the 18th hole. With the Wiltshire player missing the 18th green with his approach shot, high left, 60ft above the pin and Josh having to play conservatively to the right of the greenside lake it was going to come down to the players short-game skills. 

Wiltshire played an exquisite shot down the hill to 4 feet. Josh then played a lovely pitch that grazed the hole to leave a nasty 9ft downhill left to right tester. The putt was never in doubt (family genes), a quick wall of death display then down she dropped. These juniors have no nerves; the Wiltshire lad then stepped up and canned his putt.

Match Result: Cornwall 8.5 v 9.5 Wiltshire.

   


 

Newquay Pro Am 

On Monday 26th September I dusted off the clubs and played in the Newquay Pro Am with Captain Mike Eddy incoming Vice captain Peter Simmons and Ladies Champion Sue Pascoe. The weather was awful, with relentless waves of heavy showers & high winds. Undeterred we battled on and came in with a creditable 4 under total. Many thanks to the team and your company on the day.
