Ladies Invitation Day: August 9th
Congratulations to Lin O’Keefe and her partner Liz Whittaker from Mullion on winning the very popular Ladies Invitation Day. Great score Ladies!
Junior Captains Day: August 7th
"Once again I would like to thank each and every one of you who helped make Sunday the success it was: by that I mean everyone who played, who made sponsorships and donations and to those who donated their time and effort into helping me in the build up to the day. After a final count up we are able to confirm that an amazing £905 was raised on Sunday which has funded 20 of our juniors with new team kit, and still leaving us with an amazing sum of money which will help develop our juniors in the future. I cannot say thank you to you all enough times"

Around the Golfing World
GETTING BETTER WITH AGE! Jim Furyk has a place in PGA Tour history all to himself with a new magic number in golf. Three years after Furyk became the sixth player on tour with a 59, he took it even lower Sunday in the Travelers Championship with a 12-under 58. "Amazing, eh?" Justin Rose said from the practice range at the Olympic Golf Course in Rio de Janeiro. "Amazing that he did it without birdieing the 13th (par 5) and 15th. Pretty cool."
An Olympic Dream
Major or medal? It’s a question asked of several golfers in the ramp-up to this week’s Olympics men’s tournament. An intriguing question but perhaps not completely fair. Consider Bangladesh’s Siddikur Rahman. Having grown up in the slums of Dhaka, the son of a rickshaw driver, Rahman’s golf dreams dripped with realism. He simply wanted a better life for himself, to become a pro on the Professional Golf Tour of India. He never thought of majors. He never thought of the Olympics? until after 2009 when it was approved for the 2016 Games.
Should Rahman find the podium Sunday at Campo Olimpico de Golfe, it would be an upset; after all, he’s ranked 316th in the world. Plus, his country is the most populous country in the world without an Olympic medal. But he’s here, one of 60 in the field. Good Luck Siddikur!
